Montrose
Montrose is a small seaside town, which has an interesting history and caters for most needs. There is a rail station in Montrose with regular services to the North and South. The town has a busy harbour and a variety of large and small ships can be seen passing your window.
There are two golf courses (Montrose Links & Royal Montrose) situated near the beach, one of which is the fifth oldest golf course in the world (very challenging). There is an indoor public swimming pool and many bars and restautants to be sampled.
The beach stretches 5 kilometers to the North though only the brave will want to go swimming. At the North end of the beach there is a wild life reserve at St Cyrus.
Surrounding Area
The City of Aberdeen to the North is only 55 kilometres away. Dundee to the South is about the same distance. St Andrews, Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow are all within easy reach either by train, car or bus.
To the West of Montrose there is a large tidal basin which is populated with many forms of bird life and is overlooked by a Wildlife Centre which is well worth a visit as it caters for young and old. This area is very popular with Bird watchers and Wildfowlers.
